Jillian L. Fortier, MD
Jillian L. Fortier, MD is a board-certified plastic surgeon who offers her expertise in both aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery.
A Connecticut native, she graduated summa cum laude from Providence College in Providence, RI, where she was a member of the NCAA Division I swim team and also studied abroad during her junior year on Semester at Sea, a ship that circumnavigated the world, studying and traveling to 13 countries. She then attended the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, where she was recognized for academic excellence and became a published author on several manuscripts regarding topics in surgery.
She completed a residency in General Surgery at the University of Connecticut, followed by residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Lahey Clinic and Medical Center in the greater Boston area. During her plastic surgery residency, she learned from world-renowned plastic surgeons at area hospitals such as Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, and Maine Medical Center. She was active in plastic surgery research, published book chapters and manuscripts, and presented at national meetings on several topics within plastic and reconstructive surgery.
During her residency years, she was able to participate in several surgical mission trips, including Operation Smile, in Ecuador and the Philippines. She developed a true passion for surgical mission work, and found the ability to bring her surgical skills to countries with inadequate access to proper surgical treatment immensely rewarding.
She is currently an Assistant Professor of Surgery and Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, where she teaches medical students and residents in surgery the science and art of plastic and reconstructive surgery. She is involved in surgical quality improvement projects with the General Surgery Residents and is the faculty advisor of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine Plastic Surgery Interest Group.
She is pleased to offer her skills in both aesthetic and reconstructive surgery at Northeast Plastic Surgery Center to assist patients in achieving their individualized goals. She is a strong believer that when one feels confident about their appearance, it positively affects their self-awareness and attitude which permeates every aspect of their life.
